Self Righteousness
Posted on January 27th, 2012 at 9:33 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Self-Righteousness.—-

We start with Deuteronomy 9:4-6. “After the LORD your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The LORD has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is going to drive them out before you. It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.”—-

Next, we look to Matthew 7:22-23 for, “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”—-

In Luke 18:9-14, God says to us, “To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about[a] himself: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”—-

God says to us in Romans 2:17-24, “Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and brag about your relationship to God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth — you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”—-

Do you know a self-righteous person? Can a person be a little self-righteous? —-

I want to know what you think about this…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. ————

Making Promises
Posted on January 26th, 2012 at 6:34 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Making Promises.—-

We begin today with this from Matthew 5:33-37, “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.” —-

And in 1 John 1:9, God writes, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Next, we read this in Numbers 23:19, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” —-

And from 2 Peter 3:15-16 we read, “And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.” —-

Finally, God writes to us in Hebrews 13:5, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” —-

There is an old expression that a “promise made is a debt unpaid.” How are you at keeping the promises you make? Are you inspired by God to keep them? Write to me…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. ————

Arrogance
Posted on January 26th, 2012 at 1:38 AM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Arrogance.—-

We start with 1 Samuel 2:3, “Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” —-

Next, we can read these words from Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.” —-

Turn to Matthew 5 and you will find, “Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”—-

In Romans 12:3 God says, “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” —-

And in 2 Chronicles 17 we can share, “Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place and strengthened himself against Israel. He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured. The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel. Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.” —-

Let’s look at this from Deuteronomy 28:47-48, “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things, therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and lacking everything. And he will put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you.” —-

Finally, from Exodus 22:2-3 God says, “If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.”—-

Are you an arrogant person? Do you know an arrogant person? How do you think you can follow God’s word with regard to arrogance? Write to me and share…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. ————

Healing
Posted on January 24th, 2012 at 6:34 PM by admin

The topic for today’s blog is Healing.—-

To begin, we should refer to Acts 3:16, “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know; yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”—-

God speaks to us in Psalm 103:2-3, when he says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits; Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.”—-

From Matthew 10:8, we discover, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”—-

And in Jeremiah 17:14, we find these words from God, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”—-

Finally, from 1 Corinthians 12:28, “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”—-

Do you believe in miraculous healing from the power of God? Can you tell me if you have been healed, or if you know someone who was…?

I want to read your words now…
And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. —————

Prayer
Posted on January 23rd, 2012 at 4:18 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Prayer.—-

We start with this from James 5:16, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” —-

Next we should read this from Ephesians 6:18, “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. —-

And in Philippians 4:6 God says to us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” —-

Psalm 145:18 records God saying to us, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” —-

And John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” —-

From 1 John 5:14-15, God says, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” —-

And in Romans 8:26, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” —–

From Mark 11:24 we read these words from God, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” —-

And finally from Matthew 6:7, “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.”—-

Do you pray? Do you think God hears and answers your prayers? Does God answer all prayers? Let me know what you think…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. ————

Fasting and Prayer
Posted on January 20th, 2012 at 9:39 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Fasting and Prayer.—-

From Matthew 6:16-18, “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” —-

From Acts 14:23 we read, “And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” —-

God speaks directly to us in Nehemiah 1:4 when He writes, “As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
And in Acts 13:2 God writes, “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” —-
—-
In Matthew 17:20-22 we read, “He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”—-

Do you fast? So many religions in the world consider fasting a holy event, helping you cleanse yourself of your sins. So, do you fast? Write to me…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. —————

Danger
Posted on January 19th, 2012 at 5:39 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Danger.—-

We start with God’s blog in Romans 12:19, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” —-

Next, let’s read John 14:15, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” —-

And God says this in 1 Timothy 5:8, “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
“For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer,” comes to us from Romans 13:4. —-

In Luke 22:36, God says to us, “He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.” —-

And earlier in Luke 10:27, He writes, “And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” —-

So, what does Danger mean to you, and how do you avoid it? Or are you one of those people who thrive on danger? Write to me and tell me your ideas…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. —————

Obedience
Posted on January 18th, 2012 at 7:11 PM by admin

Obedience is the topic for today’s blog.—-

We begin with this from John 14:15, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” —-

How about what God says in Psalm 99:7, “In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them; they kept his testimonies and the statute that he gave them.” —-

Next, we should read this from 2 Kings 18:6, “For he held fast to the Lord. He did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the Lord commanded Moses.” —-

Now, John 14:31 holds these words from God to you, “But I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.” —-

What does God write in Matthew 9:9? “As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.” —-

And God says in Psalm 119:59, “When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies.” —-

And in Psalm 119:30 He says, “I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.” —-

From Luke 1:6 we read, “And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.” —-

And finally from Acts 23:1, “And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.” —-

Obedience. We ask for it from others. Others ask for it from us. It is a constant give and take scenario. Do you give and take obedience? Write to me and share your thoughts…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you.—-

Absolute Truth
Posted on January 17th, 2012 at 5:26 PM by admin

Today’s blog topic is Absolute Truth.—-

We start with this quote from John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. —-

And in John 17:17 God says to you, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”—-

Next, we turn to 2 Timothy 3:16 where God writes, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” —-

And in John 16:13 God says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” —-

Let’s share these words from 2 Peter 3:16, “As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.” —-

And also from 2 Peter 1:20-21, “Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” —-

Have you thought about these words from God in Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” —-

And what about what God writes in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” —-

What does absolute truth mean to you? Are there any absolute truths that still exist, or are all truths transient? Write to me…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. —-

Courage
Posted on January 16th, 2012 at 8:13 PM by admin

The topic of today’s blog is Courage.—-

First, let’s read these words from Leviticus 26:6-8, “I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and one hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.”—-

In Joshua 1:1-9, we discover, “After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Great Sea on the west. No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”—-

God speaks to us in Philippians 1:27-28, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.”—-

What does courage mean to you, especially in this day of terrorism, bankruptcy and moral ambiguity? I want to know what you think…

Are you on a mission from God, or are you on a mission for yourself?—-

Write to me…

And, remember to always keep love, life and laughter in your heart and the world will smile with you. —————
